The three-year cycle is quickly coming to a close, and the deadline to renew your Michigan Real Estate License is October 31, 2018. At the beginning of August, you should have received an email from the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) department with a few more important dates to know in regards to renewal. Don’t forget to mark your calendars!
August 6th – First Date to Renew
As of this date, licensed Real Estate Brokers, Associate Brokers, and Salespersons may begin renewing licenses. This MUST be done on the LARA website.
October 31st – License Expiration
The last day in October isn’t just the renewal deadline, it’s the day that your current license will expire. If you continue to practice real estate under an expired license, you will be subject to disciplinary and legal action.
November 1, 2018 to January 2, 2019 – 60 Day Grace Period
If you do not complete the renewal requirements by October 31st, you still have a 60 day grace period. Licensed Real Estate Brokers, Associate Brokers, and Salespersons may renew their license past the expiration date but will have to pay an additional late fee of $20.
